Summer Was Never Meant to Be a Season of Shame
Updated: May 15
This is the time of year most of us start preparing ourselves for the battle of summer clothes coming out. Facing the fact that our shorts feel tighter than last year, and bathing suits are sitting in the corner because we don't dare try them on.
The pressure we put on ourselves to lose weight quickly to fit into last year's clothes is very overwhelming. It is heartbreaking that most of us spend the warmest and most beautiful months of the year worrying about how we look, instead of enjoying our lives.
We find ourselves avoiding pool parties and going to the beach. And “hiding” under oversized clothes. Feeling anxious every time we get dressed.
It took me years to learn that I do not need to earn or punish myself to deserve to enjoy summer. Enjoy every moment that life gives you by allowing yourself to let go of what you think the ideal body should look like. No longer should we feel defeated and shamed by what size we wear. We all deserve to enjoy our lives, no matter what size we are.
Let’s shift our goals to supporting ourselves where we are right now. Instead of worrying about what size we are, let's start incorporating healthy meals, movement you enjoy, and showing self-compassion. Because when we do this, we feel better about ourselves. Which, over time, will help you lose weight and be healthier.
Because feeling healthy and feeling worthy are not the same thing.
And YOU DESERVE BOTH!!!!
