Summer Pressure Is Starting Again
Getting to be that time of year again. The weather is finally getting warm. We put away the sweatshirts and pull out the shorts. We start to see “diet” and “summer body” advice everywhere we look. There are a lot of promises of losing weight fast and looking amazing by the time summer is in full swing.
“Summer body” culture convinces women they need to look “thin” in their summer outfits. Many of us respond to this messaging with urgency and panic. When panic takes over, we are no longer listening to our bodies and start fighting it. We start to skip meals, overexercise, and try to live up to impossible standards.
Our bodies were not designed to thrive under the pressure we put ourselves through. One of the hardest parts of this season is comparing yourself to others. Looking outward, you see disciplined, toned, confident people who don’t seem to struggle.
Many of us are silently dealing with exhaustion, stress, emotional overwhelm, and years of dieting burnout. This kind of pressure is why most of us turn to food for some kind of relief.
What If You Approached Summer Differently This Year?
Let's not make this summer about getting into a smaller size. Let's change the narrative and start to support yourself where you are. Start with one small change. Changing one thing at a time allows your mind and nervous system to catch up. Things as simple as adding a fruit or veggie to your meals. Take a short walk after you eat. Drinking more water.
Set yourself up for success, not another disappointment. Small doable goals create pride, confidence, and self-worth. It is time to build your confidence back through consistency, self-awareness, nourishment, rest, support, and learning how to work with your body instead of constantly fighting against it.
You do not need another extreme plan this summer. You need support, understanding, and changes that actually fit your life.
If you’re tired of starting over and ready to approach your health differently, I explore these topics more deeply through my coaching, workshops, and group conversations focused on emotional eating, stress, overwhelm, and sustainable change.
